Why I'm posting my notes

Hi, I'm Els, a filmmaker with a plan for a personal documentary, a not-commissioned work of art. Independent movie. To explore options, inspiration for making my own film, I started watching other documentaries and taking notes on what I saw. I felt the need to discuss my notes, so that's when I decided to publish them. At first I published these notes on Substack, but for various reasons I decided to move them to my own blog site: this one. I hope that my notes will spark some reactions, I'd really enjoy to meet people to discuss these films with.

Posting only texts made the site look utterly dull, I needed a visual for each film. And then it clicked: I should draw my own! So I just started doing that. No screen grabs, but some key element as my interpretation of the film. Unexpected: drawing sparks my imagination and I think it is a very relaxing and fulfilling way to spend time drawing my own visuals.

I like making simple websites, and with some help from AI that also became a lot easier. So, that's what I did: make this website and put the notes on it. Hope you enjoy!
